Shutting off the water

Shutting off the water – What should YOU do?

  1. Information for the affected apartments:
    • Own name
    • Own telephone number
    • Time period: Expected time period the water will be shut off
    • Scope: Which rooms in the apartment are shut off from the water and whether it is service water or central heating that is shut off.
  2. Inform the administrator or board by mail:
    • Own name
    • Own phone number
    • Time period: Expected time period the water will be shut off
    • Scope: Which rooms in the apartment are shut off and whether it is domestic water or central heating that is shut off, as well as which apartment numbers are affected by the shut-off.
  3. Time frame:
    • Notification of closing the water to the administrator and affected apartments must be done at least 14 days before the day of the water shutoff

NOTE:

  • Draining or filling of water after shutting off the central heating can and must ONLY be carried out by a certified plumber.
  • The work of shutting off and opening the water in locked rooms may ONLY be carried out by a certified plumber – access to the room is agreed with the relevant owner.
  • If the string is not in a locked room, everyone may shut off and open the water with appropriate warning.
  • If the water for the entire building has to be shut off, this must be agreed with the administrator.

In the event of an acute leak, it is permitted to shut off the water without prior agreement/notification. Contact a certified plumber directly if the string is in a locked room. The administrator must be informed immediately thereafter. In this case, the owner must put a note on the notice board next to the mailboxes to inform the other residents (preferably also on Flatcom).
